    New deerPhD Feature: Outdoor Recipes

Posted by Bryan on December 6, 2007

The title about says it all - so here’s the official call for recipes. Here’s the incentive - If you post the recipe on your site, then I will link to it. So, there’s a free link waiting for anyone with a good recipe. Alternatively, if you don’t want the link or if you don’t have a site, please feel free to send me e-mails anyway, and I’ll give you full credit. Guidelines/Notes below:

    Guidelines:

    •  To qualify as a wild game recipe, it must include wild game (i.e., not a side)
    • Feel free to send side dish recipes, but they will be grouped as such
    • I’m also seeking outdoor recipes in the form of camping recipes (i.e., poor pan’s pie, smores, etc.)

    Notes:

    • I am aware that some sites already have compilations  of recipes. I will try my best to link to the best of these sites.

So, send ‘em in, and I’ll get a page ready in the meantime. If this works, then I’ll inform all when I unveil the new feature - hopefully just in time or some good winter eatin’!

This is a really good idea.

Here’s a link to a post I wrote on one of my family’s favorite ways to enjoy venison http://mattcoughlin.typepad.com/matt_coughlins_weblog/2007/08/for-a-great-qui.html I’m not sure if it qualifies as a recipe, but check it out.

Bryan, good idea! Attached is the address to a recipe I posted about my Grandmothers tea cakes. They were wonderful! My lack of technical ability precludes me from sending you a direct link.

Hi Bryan - Tomorrow I will post on my blog site, one of four of my recipes from a cookbook called, “Deer Camp Dan’s, that I had recipes published in. The other two are sides and will post at a later date for you. I also have another one that my husband loves for me to fix him for breakfast called, Breakfast Pizza! It’s delicious!

This is a great idea you have and wish you good luck with it! :)

That is a really great idea that interests me very much. Among my many professional credentials I can list Chef too. I have been thinking of making a new blog about wild game cooking, in fact I have the template and banner set up. All I need is time to write more.

Let me have a look in my many handwritten recipe books and see what I can come up with.

      Bryan,

Check out my Around the Community posts from earlier this week. I linked to a couple of blogs that have some great receipes on them. I think Catfish also has a cookbook, so I bet he’d be glad to contribute some recipes.

      Hey there,

My whole site is dedicated to wild eating, whether it be game, fish or foraged foods. I have a few venison recipes up already at www.honest-food.net/blog1/wild-game-recipes/ and am adding more every day. Hope you enjoy these dishes - if you try them, let me know how they come out! Also, if there is a recipe you are looking for, let me know and I will see if I can track it down in my collection of game cookbooks (I have lots of them…)
