Kansas City: Here We Come!!!
Posted by Bryan on February 25, 2008
Some of your regular deerPhD readers may recall that I applied for clinical internship this year (my final year of graduate training). Well, I am very pleased to report that I landed my top choice of internships! That’s right - on August 1st I will begin a 1 year placement at Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, MO.
What does this have to do with hunting? Well, just ask our blogging buddy over at Alpha Trilogy! In addition to furthering my training as a psychologist, I’m super-stoked to check-out the hunting seasons in Kansas and/or Missouri. To my knowledge, Missouri boasts some of the best turkey hunting in the nation, and their deer hunting holds its own as well. If I’m lucky, I might get to tray my hand at some quail hunting.
So, here’s to a new state and new hunting opportunities!

Congratulations! Landing your top choice has to feel pretty good.
By the way Kansas City isn’t far from St. Louis. Maybe you’ll be able to join us at the Summit in 2009?
Just thought I’d throw that out there.
Congratulations again. That’s great news.

Thanks so much to you all for responding and joining in on my celebration! Kristine, that sounds like a good idea! Arthur, I hope I can find those opportunities and have time for them. CDGardens, we’ve already started looking for apartments!

Congratulations Bryan on being able to go to Kansas for your final year and of course the hunting from what I have heard is nothing to sneeze about either.
Good luck on that, I can only imagine how excited you are.

Fil and I am very happy for you; you are extremely qualified and sharp–I am not surprised you landed your first choice. It will be fun to visit there. Just don’t stay too much longer than a year, ok? Love ya, Mil

Mil, many thanks for your kind comments! I can’t promise the year thing - but we’ll see what happens. It all depends on if our dog, Phoenix, finds a girlfriend!

What a great opportunity! I’m sure you will make the transition smoothly. You’ve been well prepared. The turkey and whitetail hunting there are second to none. It doesn’t matter where you end up, just as long as you and your partner are happy.

Congratulations! I’m sure you’ll get to enjoy some hunting - Missouri has some great state managed areas and Kansas has a neat Walk-In hunting area program
